WINTER 2012. Happy New Year from HRM Partners. Thanks very much for taking the time to view our website. In addition to the information and postings on this site, we hope that many of you may have an opportunity to attend some of the seminars that we will be holding during our winter quarter 2012. We currently have plans for seminars in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, San Diego, Seattle, and Atlanta. The various subjects of our seminars will include labor law update, employment policy trends, compensation and performance appraisal trends, ethics/compliance and handling employment terminations. As we put our plans into actions, we will post our seminar schedule above under the “Seminar” tab.
Once again, happy New Year 2012! We don’t want to spend much time on this. However, this is THE 2012 that we’ve been hearing about for at least the last five years with the world coming to an end. I guess we’ll finally get some closure this year on whether the world is really going to end on December 21, 2012. In all honesty and joking aside, however, most of us aren’t quite ready to think about either the end of the world or the end of the year. In fact, most of us are just coming off of a month-long period of celebrating the year-end holidays. We’re just returning to the real world without bright lights and Christmas carols being sung everywhere to the fact that it’s dark and cold outside and we’ve got to deal with winter for the next three months.
So, as your holiday glow begins fading and you begin pondering on dealing with the New Year, here’s a few positive ideas. With each New Year’s beginning, a clean slate starts for the budding New Year in hopes for improvements aplenty. Sometimes, the clean slate literally means cleaning all the clutter from the old year including shredding old paper and getting new files set up. For HR, the traditional New Year practices include updating policies to match labor law changes, making sure updated labor law posters are in all the right places, having updated job descriptions, considering any needs to improve appraisal system and/or compensation system, and starting to think about employee and management training needs for the year.
As you consider all these good corporate deeds to perform, please occasionally check back at our site. We hope to keep you informed and updated during the upcoming winter months. Again, we hope to see you at one of our seminars.
Best Wishes for a Happy & Successful 2012
