The Labor Department has again postponed the filing deadline for federal contractors to report on the number of veterans they employ. According to the latest update from DOL’s Veterans’ Employment and Training Service, DOL had planned to begin accepting electronic submissions of the VETS-100 and VETS-100A forms on Aug. 1. However, the department has pushed that date back twice due to technical problems and now expects the electronic filing system to be up and running by Nov. 1. Contractors will then have 60 days, until Dec. 30, to submit VETS-100/100A reports. Employers can make e-mail or paper submissions if they must file earlier in order to obtain contract funds. As required under the Vietnam-Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act, the forms must be filed annually by employers with federal contracts or subcontracts that exceed certain threshold. 10-12-2011.
