Federal contractors can expect increased scrutiny of their compensation practices and policies by the Labor Department’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) in 2012, a senior OFCCP official said recently. But if contractors perform their own audits of compensation based on race and sex, she said, they should be able to “figure out if there is a problem before we show up at their doorsteps.” The official added that OFCCP has a multifaceted approach to compensation audits. “It’s not just about the ‘same job and different pay’ type of problems. It’s about what Executive Order 11,246 requires, which is nondiscrimination in compensation.” 03.19.2012
